Golf
There are 3 golf courses in Carvoeiro.

Vale do Milho is a 9 hole par 3 course. Pinta and Gramacho are 2 testing Championship courses and are part of the Pestana Golfing resort.

Other championship courses in the area are - Palmares and Penina, which are approximately 20 minutes drive, San Lorenzo, Vilamoura, Vila Sol and Vale do Lobo which are approximately 25 - 30 minutes drive away.

Tennis
The Carvoeiro Clube de Tennis also has a gym, swimming pool and serves snacks and refreshments.

Rocha Brava Tennis Clube again has a fitness centre, swimming pools a restaurant and snack bar.
 
Both are open to non-residents and all equipment can be hired and private coaching booked.

Horse Riding
The Quinta da Gill Riding Centre, at Lombos, near Lagoa offers lessons for all ages and abilities with qualified instructors. Or you can hire horses for hacking out around the orange groves above Praia da Marinha.

Watersports
All types of watersports can be arranged, from Jet skiing, snorkelling, windsurfing and sailing. Please ask us for more information.

The Algarve also offers plenty of cycling, walking and clay pigeon shooting amongst other sports. Please ask us for more information.

For the Children
Apart from fun and games on the beaches, Carvoeiro has much more to offer, from local playgrounds and swimming pools to theme parks and play centres.

Slide and Splash – Lagoa. A water park for all the family. Slides and pools for all ages. Snack bars and restaurants. Life guard attended.

AquaLand - Alcantarilha - A water park that boast the highest water slide in Portugal. Snack bars and restaurants. Life guard attended.

Zoo Marine – Guia, Albufeira.  A theme park and marine centre where you can swim with the dolphins. Stroke stingray and baby shark, watch the sea lions and seals presentations. There are theme rides, a swimming pool, and a children’s play area.

Krazy World – Algoz. Plenty to do from mini golf, quad biking, pony rides and a petting zoo. There is also a crocodile and snake show most days.

PlayOasis – Soft play centre for younger children, with snack bar. Found on the road from Carvoeiro to Ferragudo.

Places of Interest
Silves town and Castle. The Moorish, red sandstone castle stands proudly overlooking the historic town of Silves. Walk around the ramparts and take in the stunning views. While you’re there, why not visit Fabrica do Ingles, the old cork factory and wander around the town’s restaurants and shops.

Boat Trips and Deep Sea Fishing. There are many boat trips available from small local fishing boats in Carvoeiro to bigger vessels in Portimao. Explore the local coast line, caves and grottos or try dolphin and whale spotting. Deep sea fishing for all abilities can be arranged in Portimao.

Sardines in Portimao. Sardines grilled while you watch! The restaurants line the quayside and the smell of freshly barbequed fish is mouth watering! Other fish and cuisines are available too!

Autodromo Internacional do Algarve – Portimao. For car lovers, why not visit the new F1 racing circuit. Attractions include driving experiences, a karting track, technology park and sports complex. (Some areas on site may still be under construction.)

Fatacil – Lagoa. This unique fair runs for 10 days in August and boasts over 800 vendors presenting products made from all over the country from foods to leather and wooden gifts and wares.
